In honor of Memorial Day
In honor of Memorial day I'd like to thank all veterans and service folk for the sacrifices they've made and continue to make. "Sacrifices"... said so loosely these days. Think about it...
It's a sacrifice living far from family and missing all those family gatherings. Grandparents are missed. Birthdays, etc.
It's a sacrifice uprooting kids and moving often.
It's a sacrifice for Moms (or Dads!) who are home with their kids while the other spouse is away. Deployments are obvious but most soldiers train regularly too and that can take them from home for nights at a time.
It's tough missing one year away from your kids when deployed. As my kids age, deployment seems harder and harder to imagine. And it's not just the time they are gone. The time before they leave is emotional and stressful. When they come home there is adjustment to living together again.
It's a great great sacrifice to serve in the military and I am thankful to those people who have volunteered to do it. Whether people agree with the current political situation is irrevelent... we need to support the servicemen and women for what they do in country and out.
I appreciate you.
I thank you.
And Veterans, an extra big thank you.
You are not taken for granted.
You are remembered.
So everyone... as you watch Memorial Day parades remember yet another sacrifice. You have a day off and they do not. They are walking... marching... SERVING again for you.
